About

Einar Egils is a Reykjavík-based director and screenwriter. A self-taught filmmaker, he began as a teenager by stealing his father’s 35mm camera and getting his hands on any DV camcorder he could find. His early experiments were shaped by a world of 90s hip-hop, rave culture, graffiti and skateboarding. Among those early projects was his first short film, a mockumentary about a classmate.

Today, his work spans commercials, music videos, concert films and documentary television, earning awards and nominations, including a Vimeo Staff Pick.

Einar is currently writing and developing his first feature film, alongside a new documentary and an Icelandic TV drama series.
